Details

User-Agent: Build Identifier: FireFox 0.8 After installing Firefox on a Win2000 and WinXP Pro machines: I closed the browser and did other work (even rebooted the machines). Now when I open Firefox Task Manager's "Processes" tab says Firefox is running but it is not visiable. I recieved no error messages. I uninstalled Firefox, renamed the chrome folder and reinstalled. When it get to the point of starting the browser nothing happens. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
are you using a new profile or a previous profile? try using profile manager to create a new profile and retest. This may happen with a corrupted/damaged profile.

Confirmed: This happened to me after installing firefox 0.8 (firebird 0.7 had been installed before this). I'm using Windows ME. I was able to work around it by running an old version of mozilla firebird before starting firefox, forcing firefox to bring up the "select profile" dialog, and creating a new profile.
I made a new profile and it worked just fine.
