User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 This is similar to bug 218271 (which is for Camino) about creating a Default Web Browser preference. In Mac OS 10.2 (and possibly earlier versions), setting a default browser was through Apple Menu > System Preferences > Internet. In OS 10.3, Apple has somewhat hidden that feature inside the Safari preferences. (I only found that preference by stumbling on it.) It would be nice to have a button in Firefox Preferences to set Firefox as the default browser, like in IE. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

please don't morph bugs like this. adding shellservice hooks for Mac OS X is utterly and completely separate from adding hooks for GNOME. If there isn't a bug on this already, please file it in OS Integration.

mscott has marked the equivalent bug in Thunderbird as blocking 1.0mac, and stated on the bug that it will be done in Firefox first, so marking dependencies appropriately.

Nominating this for 1.1, the Thunderbird bug is already targeted for 1.1. As a Mac user I would really like to see this happen for 1.1.
