When I want to type in a url, I usually click on the URL box then reselect the
segment of the text I want to change. I can't do that in FireFox. Instead you
have to click the exact point where you want to start selecting, then select the
area to change / delete. I would rather have the same function as IE6 in this
particular case. I tend to miss the entry point, and if the correct region is
within the currently selected area, I have to add another click to de-select the
text, then start again. An extra step that is amazingly annoying! :)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.select text in enter URL field
2.try to select new text within selected area
Actual Results:
Firefox thinkgs I want to drag-and-drop the text somewhere else.
Expected Results:
Let me reselect a portion of text with out having to de-select before hand

Bug 87410 is the same bug for Seamonkey. I don't know if this should be marked
as a dup.

this breaks dragging URLs to the content area/other apps/the desktop (creating a
shortcut) or to textareas. All of this functionality is desirable, and worth an
extra click if you screw up the first highlighting.

Try selecting part of the URL when it doesn't have focus, this should enable you to select what part you want. When it doesn't have focus, if you just click it it will select it whole, but if you click-drag it directly it will start the selection at that point instead of selecting the full URL.
