23397 - Next Unread Thread should work when NOT in thread view

Linux Redhat 6.0 (2000-01-06-08 M13)
Win_nt 4.0 (2000-01-06-09 M13)
Mac (2000-01-06-11 M13)
Steps:
1. Launch Messenger using -mail option
2. Select my account and click on Inbox (Note I have unread messages)
3. Do not click on the Thread icon, (leave messages in an unthreaded state
4. Select Go|Next|Unread Thread

Actual result: No response, cursor does not move to the next unread thread

Expected result: Cursor should jump to the next Unread thread even though it is
in the Un-thread state like NOVA.
Scott, per our conversation, you said I need to click on the Thread icon in
order for Go|Next|Unread Thread to work, but on Nova, it works even when I leave
it in the unthread view.

This occurs on all three platforms.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but in 4.x it looks like this just does the
same thing as next unread message when in unthreaded view.  What is the usage
pattern that requires this rather than just leaving it disabled (and currently
not working) in an unthreaded view?

nevermind.  I see what this does.  It also marks the rest of the thread as read.

apparently we mark the rest of the thread as read but we don't actually move to
the next message.

thread) hinders the usefulness of this feature.

cvs build from sunday afternoon w/ no relevant patches to mailnews.

i was in non threaded view with the preview collapsed,

steps: i selected go>next>unread thread.
actual results:
1. the message that was selected was marked read (this surprised me)
2. the next message was selected.

is 1 desired/speced somewhere?

next unread thread marks the msgs in the current thread as read and advances to
the first unread message in the next thread with unread. The message you're
reading is in the current thread, and thus is marked read. It does not matter
whether you're in threaded mode or not.
