User-Agent:
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040207 Firefox/0.8

I have implemented the network.protocol-handler.app.mailto to run an external
script which launches thunderbird. I have an echo statement in the script
which prints to a log file, so I know that the script is NOT being run
when I select the "Send Page" or "Send Link" menu item.

Several web sites suggest that I have to set my "default mail application" for
the window manager, as in gnome and kde. But I use twm, which does not have
a "default mail application".

Is it possible to get "Send Page" in firefox to launch thunderbird on redhat 9
linux under the twm window manager? If so, how? How does the "Send Page"
menu item work? Can it be made to work without the window manager dependency?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. set up the network.protocol-handler.app.mailto to a wrapper script which
calls thunderbird
2. select "Send Page" or "Send Link"
3.

Actual Results:
Nothing; the wrapper script is never called

Expected Results:
The wrapper script should have been called, which would have logged the
attempt and launched thunderbird

If launching thunderbird from firebird under linux is doable WITHOUT
window manager dependencies, this needs to be documented.
I'm on OS X Panther and I am unable to click on mailto links in Firefox and have
that generate an compose mail window in Thunderbird. I haven't been able to do
this for months with any combination of stable and nightly releases of Fire* and
Thunderbird. In fact, I can't recall having ever successfully done this.

The Send Page feature doesn't work for me either.

Am I commenting in the correct bug? If not, I'd appreciate if someone could
give me the better bug number.
Isn't it duplicate of bug 234082?

It may be that 234082 is a duplicate of
234024. But since 234082 refers to Windows
and 234024 refers to linux, the person
who submitted 234082 may have thought
a different mechanism was involved.

Incidentally, on what platforms has "Send Page"
been shown to work?
Also does not work on PC (win XP) with TB 0.7.1. Load a page, click File ->
Send Page and nothing happens (no mail message opens, no error message).

REOPEN:
Send page is not the same as send link. The bug that was duped to was
exclusively for send link (mailto cannot be used to send page).

Okay, more progress here.

"Send link" in firefox uses mailto:, which does not work well in Linux, see bug
56478.

"Send Page" is actually not implemented, probably could not work via mailto
anyhow (see bug 144484). You need a new bug for firefox about adding send page,
then you can wonder if it is possible outside of windows.
