Details

(Whiteboard: DUPEME)

User-Agent:
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8

Make FireFox 0.8 default browser by "Tools -> Options -> Set Default Browser".
Login to Yahoo! Messenger. If you have any new mail than a message box ask you
if you want to read the message. If you click yes, than a browser window is
opened and Yahoo! Mail website is opened.

Otherwise from Yahoo! Messenger, go to last tab "Overview" (Yellow Bell Button).
Click on "Yahoo! Mail - 0 New Message(s)".

It openes a browser window and instead of going to Yahoo! Mail page, three tabs
are opening up. First is going to My.Yahoo.com and for second it is giving error
message "Alert - 10%26ig......." could not be found. Please check the name and
try again.". Third is "(untitled)" blank page.

For me URL is 416 characters. If you check the alert page than for me "10%26ig"
is from 128 characters. So FireFox is breaking the url in 127 characters, next
127 characters is opened in another tab and rest in another tab.

If you take 127 characters from the URL that Yahoo! creates than that will go to
my.yahoo.com because http://mail.yahoo.com is the at the end or URL.

To know the URL that Yahoo! Messenger is making, set IE as default web browser
and repeat the process as above. When IE window opens, immediately press
<Escape> to stop, otherwise it would be redirected. Than copy the URL from the
address bar.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set FireFox 0.8 as default browser
2. Start Yahoo! Messenger and go to "Overview" tab and click on "0 New Message(s).

Actual Results:
Three tab pages are opening. First goes to my.yahoo.com, second gives error,
third is blank

Expected Results:
mail.yahoo.com site should be opened
Could you paste the URL involved in here? It sounds like it uses separator
chars that it should be escaping or that Firefox should not be relying on....

Here is the URL
http://msg.edit.yahoo.com/config/reset_cookies?&.y=Y=v=1%26n=d9br7cscfo9kt%26l=38f4i7f0d270b/o%26p=m2708kc413220400%26jb=21|34|10%26ig=0ofne%26r=3n%26lg=us%26intl=us&.t=T=z=TV5KABTbOLAB.GKJP7l5LvhNjY1BjM3NTY3M04wMQ--%26a=YAE%26sk=DAAmQ73tIaUBm1%26d=c2wBTVRFeUFUUXdNakV3TkRrM05nLS0BYQFZQUUBb2sBWlcwLQF0aXABWUVPc2RDAXp6AVRWNUtBQmdXQQ--&.ver=2&.done=http%3a//us.rd.yahoo.com/messenger/client/%3fhttp%3a//mail.yahoo.com/

It is breaking at | vertical bar. If you copy and paste in browser window than
it would go to mail.yahoo.com for login.
this is a duplicate, I think I actually filed this myself
