Due to the new download manager, it is now impossible to view download progress
at a glance - one now has to click on the window to view progress.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start a download.
2. Look at the download manager's name on the taskbar.
Actual Results:
The download manager title was displayed.

Expected Results:
The progress of the download selected therein should have been displayed; if
really ambitious, maybe all, but the former solution sounds fine.
Win-XP Pro
Taskbar title displays '66% of 1 file - Dowloads' currently. Is the bug fixed or
limited to Linux OS?

Sorry for not being clear in the bug summary. As I said, this applies only to
individual downloads:
"Expected Results:
The progress of the *download selected* therein should have been displayed; if
really ambitious, maybe all, but the former solution sounds fine."
Emphasis added. ;-)

Cheers.
Summary: download manager makes it difficult to determine download progress at a glance → download manager makes it difficult to determine download progress of individual downloads at a glance
it works for me with 1 file or maybe I don't understand

maybe you should try "the firefox 0.8"
Clarifying comment #2, if there is more than one download, only overall progress
is displayed. It would be neater if the progress of individual downloads could
be monitored from the statusbar.
This should be wontfix since not even 1 download can totally fit in the titlebar
usually
I agree with Pham. There is no way to indicate the status of individual
downloads in the taskbar in a clean way. --> WONTFIX.

I don't think we understand each other. What I'd like to see is that download
progress of the download selected in the download manager, displayed in the
titlebar(and the title in the statusbar). This wouldn't be very much different
from how the old progress dialogs worked.
John, I think that that would be very confusing to some people, to have a
percentage that is not representative of the aggregate status in the titlebar in
a window that by nature aggregates download status.

If people want to find out the individual status of downloads, they need to open
up the download manager and look at it there. See bug 236578 and bug 233122
which will bring back some of the functionality you want.
