Right now you assume that everyone uses the same smtp server, when that is not the case. I have two accounts, and I have to keep changing the smtp-server every time I change. Reporter, please read http://mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html for future bug reports. Meanwhile, go to Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP) > Advanced..., and select Add... to add as many different SMTP servers as you like. Then in each account's Server Settings, click Advanced and select the appropriate server for that account.
