User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 I have stored a lot of e-mails in Outlook 2003 (not Outlook Express!) with a large amount of attachments. After having used the import function of Mozilla Mail, the messages themselves have been imported. However, all attachments are lost or have not been imported. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have e-mails including attachments stored in Outlook 2003 2. In the Mozilla mail client use "Tools/Import", then select "Outlook" Actual Results: All mail messages and folders are imported. However, the attachments cannot be found. Expected Results: The import function should have imported all messages including the attachments from Outlook 2003 to Mozilla Mail. The above described behavior does not seem to occur when importing from Outlook 2002 or earlier. Unfortunately, the import cannot be tested anymore as I have deinstalled Outlook 2002.

As a first workaround, the following steps have been successfully performed: 1. Start Outlook Express 2. Import messages from Outlook 2003 3. Start Mozilla Mail 4. Import messages from Outlook Express

This issue has already been reported as bug 219181 comment 1, see also my comment 8 on that bug. As that was a separate issue from the main content of bug 219181, it is appropriate that it has now been opened as this separate bug.

Another possible workaround (described originally in bug 127049 comment 5 and further in bug 207156 comment 4 and following) is to copy the messages from Outlook to an IMAP server and then from the IMAP server to Mozilla. I haven't checked this with Outlook 2003 but it is unlikely to have lost the IMAP support which was in Outlook 2002.

I can also duplicate this bug successfuly under all circumstances. The given workaround is effective (after a fashion) - The messages are imported including their relevant attachments. However, these do not get displayed on the email list until the specific email has been highlighted and viewed, at which point the attachments are noted. Until this is done, the attachments are also invisible to the search utility. The workaround for this is to go through each mail and open it.. but with about 6000 emails thats not a viable solution.

I can also duplicate this bug using the latest build of Thunderbird plus Outlook 2003.
