Build 2000010509M13: NT4, Linux 6.0, Mac 8.5.1 Overview: In the Main Mail window (aka 3-Pane) the Edit|Preferences access key, Ctrl+E, does nothing. The menu item works.

Using the 2000-02-03-08M14 builds the problem still occurs but there is a seperate issue. jglick: There is a conflict on Linux. On Linux the Access Key is Alt+E but this sequence opens the Edit menu. On Windows Alt+E opens the Edit menu and Ctrl+E is suppose to open the Preference dialog. The problem doesn't occur on the Mac either.
Wasn't it decided to remove the Accelerator key, Ctrl+E, for Prefs? German?
I'm reassigning this to hangas who has done a lot of this. This is currently this way in every window in the product as far as I can tell originating in globalOverlay.js.

It was decided by German and Paul H. that Ctrl+Shift+P would be used for Preferences globally.
Changing summary to reflect the fact that we want Ctrl-Shift-P as the shortcut for preferences.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Summary: 3-Pane Access Key for Pref, Ctrl+E, does not work → Add Ctrl-Shift-P to Preferences menu item
Target Milestone: M15
We are waiting on 20298 for this one.
Depends on: 20298
Mass moving to M17
Target Milestone: M15 → M17
Summary: Add Ctrl-Shift-P to Preferences menu item → UI: Add Ctrl-Shift-P to Preferences menu item
Ctrl+Shift+P is already being used for Print Preview. According to German, There will be NO keyboard shortcut for Preferences. Users shouldn't have to be changing their preferences often and therefore a shortcut shouldn't be necessary. So, I guess this bug is invalid now?
I'll mark this invalid.
