User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040219 As you can see in the attached test case, and as is described in the steps, Mozilla will crop italic characters on the (top) right when they are selected. Most of the time this isn't noticable, as most characters don't er... overlap... the next character, but some such as an l and a / do, and the overlapping part seems to be overwritten by the next character. Also if you select a region *after* the italic part (on the same line), the cropping will also occur. This makes me think it's not really a 'selection' problem, but that's for you to figure out :). It's certainly not a critical bug :), but an bit annoying one. p.s. Maybe it is of relevance to know that I have 'cleartype' enabled (though it seems to me that more of the character is removed than to only account for that). ~Grauw Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an HTML document. 2. Insert for example the line <p style="font: small Verdana, sans-serif;">Another test with CSS <span style="font-style: italic">Verdana l</span>...</p> 3. Select the italic part, plus some more. Actual Results: The top right of the 'l' is cropped. Expected Results: The selection should show just as before (it mustn't crop), but with a blue background.

I can see the bug in its entirety (cropping on selection and cropping on nearby selection) on Windows XP, build 2004022016.

I see this using LInux 2004090205 GTK1 and LInux 2004082721 GTK2/xft. I had to enlarge the font-size to see it happen in LInux.

I find this to be far more noticeable with the Lucida Grande font. Attached is a testcase.

It's really noticeable if you're trying to animate italicized text...
