User-Agent:
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040207 Firefox/0.8
When I click the Firefox window, it raises itself. This is broken,
when windows are raised is supposed to be decided by the window manager.
I'm using the sawfish window manager, with click-to-focus and no raise-on-focus.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure window manager for click-to-focus, no raise-on-focus
2. drag a window (eg xterm) on top of browser window, with browser partly still
visible
3. click on browser window below (any button seems to do)
Actual Results:
browser window is raised to top
Expected Results:
refrain from raising browser window to top

This WORKSFORME using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; rv:1.7.3)
Gecko/20040926 Firefox/0.10 and KDE 3.3.0.
Setting windows to activate on click (but not to raise) and then clicking on the
inactive window does *not* raise the window.
Perhaps this is an issue with your WM and not Firefox? Even if that is not the
case, please retest this with Firefox 1.0PR (or a nightly branch build) and see
if it still occurs. If so, please feel free to reopen this bug

I tried with the default settings of latest sawfish from debian unstable (moved
my init files away), and it still did it. Then I noticed it does *not* happen on
my laptop, with the same window manager. Mysterious. No other X program does this.
Anyway, it still happens with 1.0PR and the latest snapshots, so reopening.

my laptop started doing it, so i decided to dig further. i started trying older
versions and noticed that firefox 0.8 worked correctly bug 0.9 had the focus bug.
i nuked the .mozilla directory between tries, and confirmed that the bug is also
present in 1.0 with a newly created profile.

This also happens when using fvwm2. I am using FocusFollowsMouse with fvwm, and
windows are not supposed to raise when the mouse causes them to gain focus.
However Firefox 1.0 (build ID 20041216) will sometimes auto raise itself when it
is focused. This didn't happen with Firefox 0.8 on my machine with fvwm2.

For me this is happening when I mouse over a Macromedia Flash image/animation on
a webpage. For example, I first noticed this when mousing over my Firefox
window when it had www.cnn.com loaded there was at least one Flash banner ad on
the page. When the Firefox window is below other windows, then most of the time
mousing over the Flash animation will raise Firefox above all other windows. I
can reproduce this on other websites (for example jibjab.com) that use Flash
animations.
So this could be a bug in Flash, but keep in mind that this wasn't happening
with Firefox 0.8 with Shockwave Flash plugin version 6.0 r79. I tried upgrading
to Shockwave Flash 7.0 r25 and this bug is still happening with Mozilla 1.0.
Perhaps this is a bug with Firefox plugin support?

Hi, same problem for me, using:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041123 Firefox/1.0
with another window manager (pekwm).
Firefox window raises when it acquires focus on click.
(If the firefox window already has focus, it remains below other windows)
Very irritating. I would really like this to be fixed.
Thanks.

This still happens to me on 1.0.2:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
VERY annoying. This bug can sometimes make it difficult to view a webpage and
another application at the same time.

Can be reproduced with Openbox 3.3_rc2 and Firefox 1.5.0.1 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1).

I'm having similar, but not exactly the same issue, in that a normal click that gives focus DOES NOT raise the window, which is perfect, but any middle- or right-click does. Very odd, and entirely unexpected.

Very old bug - please re-open if this is still an issue.
