User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040208 Firebird/0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040208 Firebird/0.7 any time I navigate to this URL (www.pdxlinux.org), the browser crashes. I have experienced this with Firefox 0.8, the Firefox nightly build, and Mozilla 1.6. Strangely, this does not happen w/ Mozilla 1.6 (or IE) on my WinXP machine. So far I haven't run into any other pages where this happens. I am running Fedora Core 1 Linux (GNOME). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Firefox (or Mozilla) 2. Type www.pdxlinux.org in the navigation bar 3. Hit <enter> Actual Results: Browser crashes Expected Results: Page displayed

Again with Firefox .8 and Mozilla 1.6 at http://sayamindu.t35.com/GNOME_2_6.html
All 3 URLs work fine w/ Konqueror on the same machine, however, Epiphany browser (1.0.7) chrashes w/ Application "epiphany-bin" (process 29046) has crashed due to a fatal error. (Segmentation fault) hope that helps.
an you attach a stacktrace using GDB ? Run 'firefox -g' then in "GDB>", type 'run' and whe Firefox has crashed and you're in "GDB>", type 'backtrace'

Reporter can you still reproduce this bug with a recent nightly build? If so can you please change the Product to "Browser" as it is visible in Mozilla itself? If not, please close as WORKSFORME.
cannot seem to run the last several nightly builds. getting >> ./firefox ./run-mozilla.sh: line 423: 10768 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"} when run from command line. please clarify your request to change product to "browser", I thought "firefox" was the correct category.
You said that you have seen this bug in Mozilla itself..The component should be "browser" because many bugs aren't bugs in Firefox itself, but in the underlying Mozilla source (they share a lot of code). -->Browser I did it for you :) You not being able to start builds looks like Bug 239366, try a nightly from today and see if it works.

changing product without reassigning isn't effective. also, can anyone reproduce this with a trunk or even 1.7 build? 1.6 or FF 0.8 is old.

(In reply to comment #15) > changing product without reassigning isn't effective. > > also, can anyone reproduce this with a trunk or even 1.7 build? 1.6 or FF 0.8 > is old. Sorry, I thought I did re-assign it...I was going to wait for the reporter to try a new nightly, since they seem to be working again on Fedora Core 1.
Not sure what I am doing wrong here, but I haven't been able to get any nightly builds to run. Last night I didn't even get an error when I ./firefox, just nothing. I'll be upgrading to FC2 or switching to Debian soon, so this may remain a mystery.
make sure to download the GTK2 installer nightly build (I have the same issue firefox not starting on Mandrake 10 with the non-installer GTK2 build)
I built a test system w/ Debian Sid to try it out before I move my main system. All URLs WFM on the Debian apt repository version (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040506 Firefox/0.8). Could this be Fedora specific? Or possibly GNOME specific, as I am running FluxBox 0.9.9 on the Debian system.
It is possible that it is Fedora Core specific, which may or may not be Bug 239366 (which is now fixed, so FC1 builds should startup again). However, the trunk is rather broken these days, so many things in Linux are broken. WFM in Slackware Current, and they work for you in Debian Sid; it could be a GNOME problem though, as I use KDE. Also, gtk2 builds not starting could be Bug 243315
Reporter, can you try one more time (in Fedora Core 1, if possible) and see if this is reproducable? Bug 243315 has been fixed, so gtk2 builds should work again (if that really was the problem) Since neither of us saw it (slackware and debian), if it works now, please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME
Sorry, I have made the move to Debian/Fluxbox, and all URLs work fine. Sorry I wasn't able to do more testing, but I wasn't able to get the nightlies to work before I switched. I'll close it WORKSFORME, and maybe someone will experience it again in FC2.
