As often happens with layout issues, this is not a Firefox specific problem. It lays out the same in Mozilla 1.7 alpha.

Created attachment 143333 [details] Testcase #1 The TABLE has width="778" but the sum of the images is 780 which causes two line-breaks before two 1-pixel images. This increases the height of the top navbar pushing the normal flow content down. The login DIV is abs. pos. with a 'top:278px' which now will result in the overlap.
There are no line-breaks in NS4.8, Opera 7.23 and IE6
