Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040218

When attempting to download and view pdf files from the web, Acrobat Reader is
not available as a valid application with which to open them.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to download a pdf from any website
2.
3.

Actual Results:
When I attempt to download a pdf, the window opens asking me, "What should
Firefox do with this file?" On the "Open with" pull down menu, only Acrobat 5.0
is listed (which is not even installed on my computer).

Expected Results:
It should have listed other installed software that are capable of opening pdf's
(Acrobat Reader 6.0, Preview, etc.)
I have a similar problem, but I only have Reader 6.0 available (which is
installed). I'd like to use Preview instead, but the only way I can do that is
by saving the file and opening it in Preview. If it helps to know this, I've got
Mac OS X 10.3.2. Also, if it helps, the only PDF viewers that have been
installed on the computer have been Preview and Adobe Reader 6.0.

Also, when I set it up to "automatically do this when downloading this type of
file" and go to Firefox > Preferences > Downloads, click on the PDF type, and
then choose "change action," Preview is dimmed out during the browse for another
application to use the file.
I also have this problem. I would like to open with Acrobat 6.0; at first,
Firefox would only "let" me open with Acrobat 5.0, which is not installed. When
I attempted to set it at Acrobat 6.0 or Preview, they were not "lit up" as
options in the dialog box. I then deleted my personal profile, reinstalled the
latest Firefox, and now it is opening them with Preview, but it still won't let
me switch to ACROBAT 6.0.
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040502
Firefox/0.8.0+

Mac OS X 10.3.3

Testing URL: http://www1.wowway.com/pdf/WOWGuide.pdf
(I need to reprogram my Cable remote so why not)

When download starts I am prompted with the "what should I do" dialog my options
are to open it with preview or save to disk... open with preview is the default.
Using the drop down box, I see no other applications, not even Adobe Reader 6.0
or 5.0.

I select the open with Preview option along with checking the don't ask again,
always do dialog.

As the PDF is downloading, I go under:
Firefox > Preferences > Downloads

I search for application/pdf and select change actions and select "open them
with this application" the file picker (dialog) is opened and I navigate to the
Applications folder... all applications are dimmed even Preview.

If I then remove application/pdf from download actions, and change the default
PDF program from preview to Reader and try to download the PDF again the Open
with drop down still reads "Preview (default)" and offers no other choices in
the drop down box.

This seems to be a dup of bug 225574, and marking as such... if anyone thinks
otherwise... I'll change back.
