User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 One of the things that can be done in Eudora is a 'Redirect' (as opposed to 'Forward') function which sends the email to another recipient, preserving all of the original senders header info so the new recipient can treat this message as coming directly to them. This greatly facilitates replying to the original sender, whereas Forwarding, while preserving the header info in the body of the forwarded message, does not allow replying directly to the original sender without copying/pasting address(es). The lack of this functionality is the only complaint I hear in a large organization that has been using Eudora for ever and is now migrating to Mozilla Suite and Thunderbird Any help is definitely appreciated. I'm getting lots of questions from everyone about this - they really like the new email system but really miss the redirect feature. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. In Eudora, orignal Message (pertinent info from header and body): --------------------------- Date: Mon, 24 Nov 2003 08:11:04 -0800 Message-Id: <200311241611.hAOGB4L11896@drseuss.lib.uidaho.edu> To: WASHINGTON STATE UNIV <ill@mail.wsu.edu> From: Idaho and North Idaho <circdesk@belle.lib.uidaho.edu> Subject: Univ.of Idaho Library:Overdue Notice 11/24/2003 Idaho and North Idaho *UI-CIRCULATION Dear WASHINGTON STATE UNIV: ------------------------------------------ Using Eudora's redirect to another recipient: ------------------------------------------ From - Mon Mar 08 15:11:16 2004 X-UIDL: 8f838e78306254293ec42197199c2bcb X-Mozilla-Status: 0001 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 Return-Path: <ill@mail.wsu.edu> Received: from holeast101a.mail.wsu.edu (holeast101a.wsulibs.wsu.edu [134.121.164.198]) by cheetah.it.wsu.edu (8.12.10/8.12.10) with ESMTP id i28NAg0k000161 for <albrecht@wsu.edu>; Mon, 8 Mar 2004 15:10:46 -0800 (PST) Message-Id: <5.1.1.6.1.20040308151033.00a829c0@mail.wsu.edu> X-Sender: ill@mail.wsu.edu (Unverified) X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 5.1.1 Date: Mon, 08 Mar 2004 15:10:43 -0800 To: albrecht@wsu.edu From: Idaho and North Idaho <circdesk@belle.lib.uidaho.edu> (by way of WSU Interlibrary Loan <ill@mail.wsu.edu>) Subject: Univ.of Idaho Library:Overdue Notice Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" X-UIDL: 8f838e78306254293ec42197199c2bcb 11/24/2003 Idaho and North Idaho *UI-CIRCULATION Dear WASHINGTON STATE UNIV --------------------------- Note the (by way of WSU ... ) text in the From: line This way, the original From address is preserved and the new recipient can reply directly. I hope this can find its way into a soon-to-be-released version. Thank you for the wonderful browser/email-news/etc.
