The "table" in the content frame, especially the third column, seems to be misarranged. It is viewed correctly in Netscape 4.7 so I think you might be interesting to know about this issue. Also, there still seems to be some gitches here and there. See `home.netscape.com' and you'd see a padding right to the `netscape netcenter' logo misaligned. again, it looks fine in Netscape 4.7 browser. sorry if you're already informed of a similar issue.

Thanks for filing this bug. (Don't take the resolution badly; it's just the prescribed resolution for bugs that use the Netscape 4.x <LAYER>, <ILAYER> and document.layers features: Mozilla has implemented support for the DOM defined by W3C, and will not implement support for the these 'LAYER' features. See http://sites.netscape.net/ekrock/standards.html for details. All the content in this page is wrapped inside two layers, which are used to position sets of nested tables. <LAYER NAME="Left" LEFT="0" TOP="0" WIDTH="500"> etc., ... </LAYER> <LAYER NAME="Right" LEFT="500" TOP="0" WIDTH="130"> etc., ... </LAYER> So, given the above, I'm marking this bug INVALID. (Note: javascript is used to conditionally insert a positioned <SPAN> for IE4. If these SPANs are changed to DIVs that are conditionally inserted for Mozilla, then this page lays out perfectly -- i.e., not so painful a change.) [Although, (side note), if you use the SPANs intended for IE4, the layout *is* wrong -- I would have expected the span to not contain/distort the tables, but it looks like it does -- hmm, if there is a problem on *this* point, I will file a bug or find an existing DUPL).

To be clear, the contents of the right-hand column are place beneath the contents of the main set of tables -- as if the <LAYER> tags did nothing -- which is precisely what mozilla is supposed to with these containers.

Moving all [LAYER] bugs to Evangelism component for tracking and open-source evangelism by mozilla community members of sites that need to upgrade to support web standards such as HTML 4.0 (instead of LAYER/ILAYER) and the W3C DOM (instead of Nav4 document.layers[] or IE document.all()). Sites should be lobbied to do the upgrade using the email templates that are linked to from http://www.mozilla.org/newlayout/bugathon.html#layerbugs . When a site's owner has confirmed receipt of the message requesting an upgrade, the bug should be marked with the keyword evangelized to indicate that evangelism for that bug is complete. When the site finishes the upgrade and supports standards, the bug should be closed.
