User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113
When mousing onto a link styled with a different cursor, the default link cursor
shows until the mouse is more that one pixel deep into the link area. It acts
normal when mousing out.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Browse to example page
2. Start with mouse in white space to right of house.
3. Move mouse slowly & delicately toward house, one pixel at a time.
4. Notice that the pointing hand cursor will be shown when the cursor is just
into the image. (It will still flash the hand noticeably if you move it at a
more normal speed.)
5. Resume moving in slowly. Notice that the cursor changes to an arrow (per style.)
6. Repeat the above, but moving out from within the house. Notice the cursor
behaves as expected per style, not flashing the hand.
7. Repeat like all the above for "The Virginia Quilter" in the copyright notice
at the bottom of the page. Notice the same behavior in the text-only link as in
the graphic-only link above.
I'm flagging this a trivial since it's cosmetic, but than isn't all CSS
cosmetic? It's also rather annoying, though.
I've not tested other versions or platforms, so this may or may not be on all of
them.

Verified with a linux GTK2 build (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US;
rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040404 Firefox/0.8.0+)
Also occurs in Mozilla 1.7 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7)
Gecko/20040616)
...and Firefox 0.9. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7)

Still here in 1.7.5 (using djeter's SSE2 build:
http://pryan.org/mozilla/seamonkey/djeter/ . Haven't tested official build, but
don't see that there should be a difference)
A clarification, for what it's worth:
The problem seems to be that the mouse cursor at first changes to the default,
then changes to the styled appearance upon the next mouse update.
Example: Move the mouse slowly into the link area in the testcase and stop while
the cursor is still a pointing hand. At that point, moving it even a single
pixel in *any* direction within the styled area, even taking a right-angle turn
& staying 1 pixel in, makes the cursor redraw with the styled cursor.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.

This is kind of working, but not really; the hand cursor still flickers in for a
moment when the cursor hovers over the link.
I'm still seeing the same behavior using Mozilla 1.7.11. I'll try to check the Seamonkey nightly later.

The attached testcase worksforme. Is this still an issue?
Doesn't do it for the uploaded test case, but still behaves as described in Comment #6 in SeaMonkey versions 1.1.14 (Gecko 1.8.1.19 /20081204) and 2.0A2 (Gecko 1.9.1b3pre /20081202) on the original example page. Maybe it's an image thing.

Hmm. Worksforme there too, but I'm on Mac. I assume you're on Windows?

In...
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0 SeaMonkey/2.35
Build identifier: 20150722220804
Still shows a flicker of a "hand" cursor when it moves in that first pixel. Not really of much consequence unless that flick of the "hand" has the potential to trigger other inappropriate events or undesirable behaviors.
