User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 ...like it was in firebird, who even remebered if last file was stored complete or as html only ! why does that not work any more... XP professional, a lot of fifox extensions installed, but none of them has options that influence ordinary saving of an html file... firebird worked fine regarding that. no fifox makes a folder but the html is linked to it. no choice when ctrl-s between "html" ore "complete".... only "complete" WHAT works is "view source" and then store that source, but thats unconfortable bu-sh... ;-) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. load any website 2. ctrl-s to store it 3. no choice visible, only complete... Actual Results: folder in file manager, html sometimes not visible.... Expected Results: crtl-s: show field of typing filename, show field below WITH election "html "complete... then afterwords the htmlfile is in the windows explorer WHITHOUT a folder to it, when "html was elected....
Today's Windows and Linux builds both give me the HTML-only option when I hit Ctrl-S. Can you try a clean install and a clean profile with a new build? Maybe your profile is just corrupted, or you're seeing bug that has already been fixed. You can get a new build here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/FirefoxSetup.exe or ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/firefox-i586-pc-msvc.zip Please remember to use a clean profile when testing.
I received an email from the reporter regarding this issue. Reporter, in the future, please do not reply by email to me, but rather comment here in the bug instead. Sending emails to people will typically result in one of the following things: a) People getting annoyed at you b) People are likely to ignore your email c) People are less likely to want to fix your bug Please, unless there is good reason, comment in bugs themselves. I'm reproducing the email I received below: Hi, Mr. Chicago ;-) clean profile means I should use an empty, new one??? my fifox shows me "as html" and no choice for complete saving... but what is actually saved is "complete" so file with a folder, linked to each other, when I erase the folder, the html is gone ;_( Have fiBird 0.7 also on the system. when I want to start it, a "binding to some ..... . xy" file is not possible" ah, now I have a second profile for my bird and fox and bird running at the same time ;- to solve that storage stuff... I would have to import last files, bookmarks, preferences, all that stuff, pretty nerving.... maybe a moz-man writes a short guide on how to import all settings and history.. Regards, F. so you moz-guys are really the good guys that respond quickly. like that and recommend moz to my streamline-win-ie friends. the tab-management add-on is a blast! for mega-surfers THE thing. ps: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/fix-extensions.html found THAT problems solution....
Yes, clean profile means that you should use an empty, new one. Also don't use Firebird 0.7 and Firefox 0.8 on the same system, it can cause bugs to happen. Stick to Firefox 0.8. Try it with a clean profile, and try reinstalling Firefox 0.8 to a clean (empty) directory, not on top of an older install. You should be able to select how you want to save it as in the "Save as type" part of the dialog box. It works for me correctly, and also for everyone else I've spoken too. I'm pretty sure this bug is WORKSFORME. Can you please test again with a clean install of Firefox 0.8, clean profile and no extensions, and no Firebird 0.7? Let us know how that works out.
Worksforme with Firefox 20040425 on windows XP.
