a message is selected and the preview pane shows the contents

press down arrow, so next message is selected
it can take some time for the preview pane to resolve
 especially working remotely using imap
especially when the new message is large, eg with attachments

the problem is when trawling thru the inbox, deleting and junking half of the
messages, you start to get out of sync, and to delete the wrong message

what SHOULD happen - the preview pane should immediately display a message
saying "loading"

this is not peculi\r to TB, Eudora is just the same, but its bad news.

the easy workaround is to work slowly, but really thats not the general idea,
we want productivity please
We've noticed this problem at work too. We used to have Netscape & the
problem usually could be resolved by clearing cache. Now with Thunderbird, we
usually have to close out & reopen to get it to start displaying the right
messages. We have also noticed this occurring most frequently when
attachments are on the emails. There is another bug open (243335) for
attachment message pane problems.

This is definitely an annoying problem.
please try a trunk version and report back http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/

Does it work so well that on a slow imap connection you never see headers from one message and body from another?
