With the new mail integration for 0.9, I would really like for Firefox to be
able to automatically query my mail server for new messages so I don't have to
have TB open to be notified about new mail. A setting regarding the feature
could conceivably be put under the "Advanced" section of the Options.

There are multitudes of 3rd party programs available (covering many different
levels of feature-richness) that do a much better job at this sort of thing than
FireFox could ever hope to do. I'm left wondering, "why bother?"
Because we are bothering to integrate mail in the first place. If this does not
become a feature, perhaps one of those 3rd party extensions should be included
in the bundled extensions as mentioned in bug 214269.

Maybe because it is listed in the Tools menu?
