A mail with attachments cannot be forwarded. It hangs after opening a window
titled "Sending Messages - [Fwd: ......]" with text:
Status: Attaching ...
Progress: (rotating bar)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Hangs.

Expected Results:
Should send message

Sending a new mail with attachments is ok.
This bug report is pretty vague.
Forwarding inline or as attachment? Is the original mail HTML or plain text?
Is the original from Outlook or Outlook Express, from Mozilla, or from some
other client?
What is the nature of the attachments you're trying to forward?
Are you forwarding to one, several or many recipients?

Possible dupe of bug 198551.
the archive contains a mailbox with one message having two attachments.
It really seems to depend on the originator's user agent. I have had the problem
with mails coming from IncrediMail (see attached testcase). I did not have the
problem wit Mails from Lotus Notes.

Regards
Again: are you forwarding inline, or as attachment?

Also: as an HTML message, or as a plain text?

I have not been able to reproduce the problem with the test message.
For forwarding:
I click on the "Forwar selected message" button and leave all values on default.
For me, the message seems to be HTML with tables etc.
The attachments appear in the "Attachments" at the right side, they doi not seem
to be inline (in the testcase these are 2 word documents).
I leave the "Options/Format" as default (Auto-detect).

Sorry for being so unspecific, but I am no expert in Mails. I was hoping you
could find out something from the testcase.

This is the matching .msf file i forgot to put into the testcase:

Regards
OK: it sounds like your original HTML message is being forwarded inline in
another HTML message.

Is your mail account IMAP? The only way I was able to even see "Attaching" on
the progress dialog was to load your test message into my IMAP account and
forward from there. But it did not hang; the attaching process completed and
the message was sent and then copied to my Sent folder.

Is it possible there is a problem with your Proxomitron configuration?
The mail account is POP3. It happens also if Proxomitron is disabled.

Note:
If the "Sending message" window is closed manually, the message cannot be stored
for later sending either. It hangs, too.

Regards
This ZIP contains the temporary files create in the TEMP directory when trying
to forward the mail of the testcase. The *.doc files appear after clicking on
the forward button (forward mail window opens). The two *.tmp files appear when
trying to send the mail.

Regards
Different behaviour with build 2004042108:

The mail is sent, but without the attachment.

Additional Info:

Happens again with build 2004042209.

It does not happen if in the Preferences / Mails & Newsgroups / Forward Messages
= Inline is selected, but in this case, the original attachment is lost (not sent).

Same thing in Tbird 1.0.2.0. I have "show attachments in-line" enabled.

Workaround: save the attachments to disk, attach to forwarded message. I had an
.eml file (message) and a .jpg (image) attached to text from the forwarder, who
used a non-Thunderbird client.
WFM using the test message with sm nightly 2005-11-09, both with inline and non-inline attachments, sending an HTML message.

Reporter: Can you still reproduce this with recent nightlies?
It does not happen any more with recent builds (1.5).
=> WFM per reporter's comment 13.
Helmut Leininger, feel free to reopen this bug if the problem recurs.
