Additional Details :
Some error messages from XP_GetBuiltinString that come up
when I think either 'host unreachable' or 'network
unreachable' or maybe just 'no response' messages are
supposed to be displayed are not there. Specifically I've
seen 1006 and 1020 reported as missing.

XP_GetBuiltinString is probably not at fault here. It might be a bug in
whatever munges allxpstr.h on Linux. Reassigning to ramiro, but please tell me
if there's a better owner (not me!) and assign it onward.
