User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040317 Firefox/0.8.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5+ (20040406) Hi... the problem is straight forward... i am on a wireless network at home... I check mail... I close the lid (my powerbook goes into hybernation) I come to work open the lid... the machine comes out of hybernation..(it gets password locked if that is useful info). then it immediately detects new wireless network and hooks up to it. everything else works fine but thunderbird keeps spinning and hangs for 15-45 minuts.. (I havent timed it properly). then I think it gets back to senses. 2 things about this bug. -> If I close the lid and open it back on the same network... this problem doesnt happen..I think. :) (Only tested this once) -> This problem has started only since I think last couple of weeks(or even less). I was on the release and this problem wasnt there at that time. Then I switched to nighlies and saw this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I have this same problem, also when switching between wireless/wired networks. It happens most times I switch networks, not just when sleeping the machine (that's just when I notice it most, because that's usually when I switch networks). Doesn't seem to happen when sleeping/waking the machine w/o switching networks. I've never let it sit long enough to see if it recovers - I just "force quit" and restart and it works fine. I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5+ (20040406) under Mac OS 10.3, but I have had this problem going back as far as 0.3, I think.
I did not have this problem in Thunderbird 0.5, but after upgrading to Thunderbird 0.6 (removing my Thunderbird 0.5 install first) this happens consistently for me. *Every time* I wake my Powerbook on a different wireless network, Thunderbird hangs with the spinning beach ball of death. Thunderbird is by far my mail reader of choice, but this bug makes it unusable for me...
I'm adding my "me to" to this bug as I have the same problem with .6. I sleep my laptop at home from our home wireless, go to work, connect to the work wireless network, everything works great, Thunderbird sits and spins. I've gotten to the point where as soon as I get to work I just force-quit TB since I'll always get the spinning ball.
this was fixed in .7 and is a dupe.
