User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8

Spell Check, like in iChat or Safari, does not function in Firebird.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.type an incorrectly spelled word
2.see that it does not have red dots under it
3.

Actual Results:
it did not notify me of a misspelled word

Expected Results:
it should have showed, via red dots, that the word was misspelled.
If I understand correctly (spell checking in form fields,) this bug is a dup of
bug 16409.

I don't think this bug should be considered a dupe of 16409 because this bug
refers specifically to inbuilt functionality on OSX, where most text fields will
check your spelling automatically while 16409 does not, so far as I can see,
refer to Mac-specific functionality.

It is good usability practice to "fit in" with the expectation of users on the
platform on which an applcation is running. Mac users expect to be able to
access the native OSX spell-checker in the text fields in applcations, and the
fact that they can't do this with Firefox is, I believe, a valid bug.

In support of this, consider the summary of this bug - not "we need to add a
spell-checker", but "spell checker doesn't work". The submitter expects this
functionality but it doesn't exist.

I therefore request that this bug be reopened, and that it not be considered an
enhancement.
