in search results you can sort them by subject, date etc. but the little arrow
that shows what and in which direction is being sorted, doesn't show
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. search for some messages
2. try to sort them
3. try to figure out what was sorted and which way :)
Expected Results:
an arrow with a direction (ascending or descending) should be there

I imagine this bug occurs on all platforms, but I only have a Windows box to
check on.

The offending code was duplicated so I took the chance to merge the two.
