"Undo" function was never requested by reporter, but erroneously added to bug title here.
As a result of this, this bug got incorrectly duped against bug 94407 (request for undo function).
- --> clean-up: reopening and specifying bug title
reminder of reporter's request:
Requesting an address book vCard be sent to the trash upon deletion.
As reference: Outlook parity was added based on my own knowledge of Outlook as well as comment #0 by Anco (reporter) in bug 297947:
The contact information should have gone into the 'recycle bin' like it works in outlook.

Where do they go currently
Try. They go noplace. They simply vanish. Permanent deletion.
and why change?
For the same reason there is a trashcan for emails in Thunderbird and a trashcan for files on your computer:
data recoverability in case of errors.
