If you visit a site such as real.com which opens a popup window, and that pooup window is the last window to be closed, Moz remembers that windows size and comes up irritatingly small. I think Moz should only remember the sizes of windows that the user opens themselves. On a similar note, if you make your window manager remember Moz's window size then Moz will no longer resize popups correctly. Netscape 4.6 also has this problem... Build ID: Linux 2000011313

The first issue is a known issue; I'm almost certain there is an open bug report on it. Pending a reply to the question below, this should probably get marked a DUP of that bug. The second issue is something else. sitsofe@yahoo.com, to be perfectly clear about this, are you saying that if you make a window manager remember Mozilla's windows size, *all* new Mozilla windows, even those created by javascript to have a certain size, come out the same size, the size specified in the window manager? If so, there may be nothing that can be done about that: Like any other X app, Mozilla asks the X server to create new windows, and if the X server ignores the size requested, then it ignores it, and nothing Mozilla can do will change that. Note that Mozilla should remember its own size, so when issue 1 is fixed, there should be no need to have a WM remember it.

>...to be perfectly clear about this, if you make a window manager remember Mozilla's windows size, *all* new Mozilla windows, even those created by javascript to have a certain size, come out the same size, the size specified in the window manager? That's right. >If so, there may be nothing that can be done about that: Fair enough. Do you want to set this as invalid or duplicate?

It seems that the window size has not been persisting at all on Linux, based on bug 17799, "[PP] Window size not remembered on Linux", NEW, M14. sitsofe@yahoo.com, can you check this out? From what you report in the first paragraph, Mozilla is remembering the previous size at least when it shouldn't - is it remembering it when it should (closing a normal window, restarting)? Still looking for the bug on remembering small window sizes...

It's interesting you should say that. Although I when filed the bug this was a problem, about two days ago Moz stopped turning up in a tiny window and always reverted to a regular size. I've just tested it and it seems that Moz is not saving the tiny windows anyomore... Sorry.

OK, the main issue from the first paragraph is a DUP of bug 13208, "Popups confuse navigator.xul persistence", ASSIGNED, M15. Marking as such. sitsofe@yahoo.com, thanks for checking, I guess that's one more bug yet to be fixed. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 13208 ***
