The OK button can be disabled when you want to open a file with a no-existing
program

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.open a file via hyperlink
2.choose a registered program that is no longer existing->an error occured
3.choose another program

Actual Results:
the OK button is still disabled

Expected Results:
the OK button must be enabled when a new program is selected
As far as I can tell, you shouldn't be able to select a helper app that doesn't
exist. Can you try again with the latest nightly build?

You can find it here:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/

Please test with a clean profile and no extensions. Thanks.

We didn't actually get your reply there. Could you please try again? We can't
fix a bug that we can't reproduce (at least I can't reproduce it). Thanks.
Ok, so I'll try to explain you with more and detailed steps... :

1.select a file to download via hyperlink
2.choose "open with" option and select any program to open it
3.close the program with which you opened the file
4.delete or move the previous program from your computer(the program will
automatically disappear from the program list in the next step)
5.click on the same hyperlink and choose "open with"(a blank line is selected,
the ok button is disabled), normally "open with" is already selected
6.choose now any other program to open the file

=>when you want to validate your choice, the ok button is still disabled
Yep, I see this now. Confirming the bug. Thanks for your more detailed instructions.

Tested on: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a)
Gecko/20040504 Firefox/0.8.0+
Severity: minor → normal
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Summary: disabled button when downloading/opening file → disabled 'OK' button when downloading file after previous helper is moved/deleted
FYI, for me this (or a similar) bug also disables the "OK" button even if I
select "save to disk" in the Open dialog.

Makes it very difficult to get a file when Javascript is used so one cannot
right click and select "save this link..."
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1
This bug is a duplicate of #264492. Please look there to find a workaround.
Bug owner was notified.

BTW I can confirm that under linux too.
