User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 I've specified a different folder for attachments (one I can find!). Thunderbird apparently remembers it because it's in the options/attachments panel next time I go there, however, my attachments don't wind up in the specified folder (which happens to be on the desktop). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.create a folder called attachments on the desktop 2.go to options/attachments, select other, browse to attcments folder 3.send youself a message with an attachment Actual Results: The attachment was not in my specified attachent folder Expected Results: put the attachment in the specified folder on the desktop

Duplicate bug reported: === It appears that that all attachments are going to my default Windows temporary folder regardless of what I choose in attachment preferences. This occurs even if I choose "Ask me where to save every attachment". I am never asked and the attachment goes straight to the Windows default.

I have configured my email attachment to be saved to the folder emailAttach located in the "My Documents" folder. I am using Thunderbird 1.0 build 20041206 on Windows XP SP2. When I go to save an email attachment it brings up the "My Documents" folder. Therefore, the "save" is pruning the last entry in the target path. Second, by default IE saves all attachments to a specific folder which has a shortcut in the "My Documents" folder named email. All attachments are "saved" by default even after the email message is deleted. This is not a "temp" folder but a folder dedicated to attachments. I would strongly suggest that if the user specifies a specific folder which to save email attachments, that T-Bird save them to this folder INSTEAD of the ~\local\temp folder. If the user still wants to save the attachment to a different folder then T-Bird will not use the default folder in this scenario but the user path. This functionality is the best of both worlds and would "one up" T-Bird over IE when it comes to saving attachments.

This occurs even if I choose "Ask > me where to save every attachment". I am never asked and the attachment goes > straight to the Windows default. I'm using version 1.0.2 (20050317) on both Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.3.9. This has been an issue for every version of T-Bird I've used. When I choose to save the attachments, it asks me where to save it. It should save it in the folder that I TOLD IT TO SAVE ATTACHMENTS TO IN THE FIRST PLACE. What's worse is that double-clicking on the attachment in T-Bird saves it to the Temp folder in Windows and the defined download folder in OS X. This is purely unacceptable. If a user specifies an attachment folder, then attachments must be saved in that folder when T-Bird is told to save or open it.
