It would be nice, if I could access to my file in home directory by entering
~/file.html in location bar, instead of /home/users/maho/file.html

On Mac, if I enter ~/ into Firefox's address bar, it attempts to do a Google I'm-Feeling-Lucky search for "~".  That isn't particularly useful.

Sure looks like a dupe to me.  Can you describe how you think the bugs differ?

Marking depends on bug 76968 just so if I do take a look I know to go peer at what was done to handle ~ there and what additional functionality we need on top of it.

This would be really nice for the smart bar. I would like to use the "~username" construct in the awesome bar to quickly take me to home pages on my local machine (usually my own).
The front-end team has discussed this, and we're not going to fix this one.
