Open the address book, click TOOLS - EXPORT and you get a warning message, while
the export fails.
JS Console is clean.
Attaching screenshot shortly.
Darn, just notice that no UA is given in my initial bug report!
Some additional info: Moz Trunk 2004042608 on WinXP.
Full warning as shown by attachment:
"Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)
[nsIAddressBook.exportAddressBook]
One week old profile.
Sorry for the spam.
similar cause as bug 230965?

Works for me with a Linux build from today.
Could you try to track down the problem a little further? Does it e.g. also fail
with a very simple address book (just one simple entry)? If not, could you try
to isolate the offending address book card in the address book the export fails
with?
I don't think bug 230965 is related.

The export fails already in the very beginning, so that's even before a file
location etc is selected.
With an entirely blank profile and no addresses in the book, export still fails.

working here for me using tbird 0.6 candidate builds and trunk builds. My AB
contains addresses and mailing lists. Hmmm.
Don't know what fixed it, but the problem is gone in 2004042608 -> WFM
