I filed another bug about the vagueness/inappropriateness about the messages
that I get every time I start 0.6 asking whether it should send unsent messages.

It turns out, I've started to get e-mail back from people with copies of
messages from months ago that they say I just sent them.

So the issue is this: I have *no* unsent messages and yet each time I start 0.6
I get a message asking if it should send unsent messages.

I've said "No" about 20 times and "Yes" twice. Even after saying "Yes", the
next time I start Thunderbird it asks the same question.

Reproducible: Always

3.

This is pretty much a critical bug. I certainly can't use a mail client that is
re-sending random e-mail. If I hadn't gotten notes from three separate people,
I wouldn't have believed it.

check your local folders / unsent folder for unsent mail
Ah, okay, maybe a folder parsing bug?

"Unsent Messages" is empty when viewed in Thunderbird, but....

going into .thunderbird and viewing the files directly, it contains that
messages that are getting resent.

I'm deleting the folder, but saving copies of it and the .msf file

This bug appears also under Win98. Within the german newsgroup someone can
confirm it with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; de-AT; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040803.
So it's not a Thunderbird only problem.

Confirming and expanding to MailNews.

Scott, any news about that?

Neil, like any other folder this one isn't cleared after the messages were sent.
You have to compact this folder to reset the mbox file.

I've taken a look at my unsent folder and there was also one message left. But
it was marked as sent. I never get this dialog personally. Perhaps I don't use
offline support. Do you see it again? Does this dialog also appear when
switching between offline and online within one session? Or do you see it only
when you start your mail client?

Do you have an example of your unsent mbox which we could use as testcase?

Is this very old bug still valid? I suggest closing it.
I'm happy to close this. It was long ago and I haven't seen the abberant behavior since.
