This applies to Firefox for Linux as well; please modify the bug report appropriately. Users of Firefox on all OSes should have a color picker for precise color selection.
It checked by Windows XP and Mac OS X10.3.3. OS -> all Hardware -> all And this problem is applied also to mozilla. Probably it will be applied also to thunderbird.

Well, take your pick here: bug 42894 - better color picker bug 56045 - can't select colors other than presets bug 90667 - rfe: Mac users should have access to native color picker bug 156989 - RFE: Mac OS X: Use Cocoa color picker... bug 233460 - [GNOME] use of the gnome colorpicker in the toolkit none of which really match this bug.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Depends on: 42894
Ever confirmed: true
Summary: Preferences -> General -> Fonts & Colors should use Mac system color picker → Use platform color picker

Is this a cross-platform version of bug 156989 + bug 233460? I don't see the point.

The severity field for this bug is relatively low, S3. However, the bug has 3 duplicates.
:mstriemer, could you consider increasing the bug severity?

The last needinfo from me was triggered in error by recent activity on the bug. I'm clearing the needinfo since this is a very old bug and I don't know if it's still relevant.

This seems like more of a Widget thing ?
Also I'm pretty sure the platform color picker is used on Windows and Linux, not sure about macOS but I don't even see a non-native color picker in mozilla-central
