User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040510 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040510 When you receive an email with an attached file and you just want to open the file right away instead of saving it and opening it later, you right click on the attachment and select "open", but instead of opening the file with its associated app, mozilla pops up a "save to..." dialog, just like if you had pressed "save to" instead of "open" on the right-click menu. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.right click on an email attachment 2 [review]. select "open" 3. Actual Results: "save to..." dialog pops up Expected Results: The attachment should be opened with its default associated app.
Does this happen with *all* types of attachments? Depending on how you've configured your Helper Applications in Preferences, the default action for certain types *is* to save them to disk. (In fact, this is recommended for attachments of type application/octet-stream and potentially-executable types like application/x-msdownload.)
it happened with a .ppt file. now I received an .xls file and selecting "open", pops up a "what do you want to do" dialog, instead of a "save attachment" dialog. At least, i can select wether to save it or open it, with the ppt, the ONLY possible action was save or save...
I'll re-check the default actions for certain file types anyway. Thx. errata: it's "whether" on the previous post.
