Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113
Build Identifier: Mozilla 1.6 1.7beta and earlier builds

It seems that Java Script that puts the Cursor into an input field after loading
a page (eg. Yahoo Mail, google,...) does also work when the page is loaded in a
background tab. It might seem as a matter of beauty, but it is sometimes really
annoying.
e.g. Typing in your log and pass into a mail webservice (like web.de) and
opening some tabs in the background that contain such script cursor operations
(eg. on with a yahoo mail) will cause you to type into the nothing or your
web.de-log/pass into the newly opened yahoo-field in the background.
Maybe there'd be a possibility to switch such cursor operations off for
background tabs.

Installed plugins: varying from installation to installation, but doesn't seem
to have an effect. (Flashblock, prefbar, adblock)
Moz versions: at the moment I'm using different 1.6 and 1.7 builds, but as far
as I remember it has also been way before.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. eg. open web.de and yahoo mail in 2 tabs, one loading in background (uh,
don't use fast connections or it'll be too fast) (me = isdn modem)
2. type in some text in the web.de login field

Actual Results:
after a few seconds the cursor will disappear from your input field and you'll
be typing inpage search or in the yahoo background field, you have to reactivate
the field by many (shift)tabs or mouseclick

Expected Results:
Cursor should just stay where it is, not loosing focus or jumping to a
background page (tab)

searched for that kind of bugreport, but didn't fint something matching (or lost
it in the masses).
It might be a similar problem that scrolling with cursor keys in text also OFTEN
looses focus. That's bad cause I use my keyboard a LOT and always clicking the
cursor back into text with the mouse... well. Often appears when switching tabs.
But might be separate bug.

Should be system independent, but I didn't use my Moz GNU/Linux build that often
yet, so I can just speculate about system independency.

Since it is only doing what that java script says I don't consider that loosing
focus by it is a real bug so I'll mark it as point for the feature-wishlist.
Did you search bugzilla before filing the bug?

Sorry, yes. I really searched it, but I think I just should have searched for
"stealing focus" or something that way. I really was searching for about 15
Minutes with different terms. Well, due to a lack of my English vocabulary it
isnt always that easy to guess the most common terms for a problem. (Of course I
was surpised that noone should have posted that one before. But on the other
hand the search engine seems to be non very specific, at least it delivers me
way too many results even with a good amount of keywords. Sorry.)
Well, I'll watch the one you cc'ed me then.
