I have multiple Mozillas in different directories using different profiles. My default profile also holds multiple mail accounts, and is default mail on the system. When I used from Windows Explorer the SendTo menu to mail a textfile, Mozilla crashed, Talkback came up. TB47319Z, TB47314E, TB47302Q http://talkback-public.mozilla.org/talkback/fastfind.jsp?search=2&type=iid&id=TB47319Z User Comments file.asm sendTo ok, if Mozilla and/or Mozilla mail open, when Mozilla not open, starts Mozilla and crashes Trigger Reason Illegal instruction Stack Trace 0x00000000 RPCRT4.DLL + 0x2400 (0x7fb92400) RPCRT4.DLL + 0x234b (0x7fb9234b) RPCRT4.DLL + 0x2b1a (0x7fb92b1a) RPCRT4.DLL + 0x2935 (0x7fb92935) OLE32.DLL + 0x15f0 (0x7ff215f0) KERNEL32.DLL + 0x363b (0xbff7363b) KERNEL32.DLL + 0x24407 (0xbff94407) 0x00648b56 I don´t mind if this bug is resolved INVALID or WONTFIX, i just wanted to explain the Talkbacks. two ways to crash: 1. register one mozilla as default browser, and another one as default mail. 2. both browser and mail registered to the same, but another mozilla is open using another profile. Possible, but not tested: A user uses Netscape7 as default mail account, as he must use this for his Netscape Mail account, and he uses a more modern Mozilla Suite Browser for browsing.
Herman: Is this still issue?
Keywords: crash
still a minor issue one description only, to make it short: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040616 1.7 Release with shell-patch, installed from exe, default browser/mail Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040721 current nightly, unzipped into new created directory default profile contains three mailaccounts, one of them IMAP. textfile on desktop, for testing 'Sent To:' 'Mail Recipient' Using Default Browser with default profile, 'Sent to' -> 'Mail Recipient' opens Mail Client with default address. Using Other Browser with default profile, 'Sent to' -> 'Mail Recipient' opens DocWatson ( crashing twice ) Using Other Browser with test profile, 'Sent to' -> 'Mail Recipient' nothing happens, no crash, no mail client popping up. I rarely use 1.7, normally latest nightly is registered as default browser, maybe mail registered to the nightly before, in another folder, as I don´t always use mail after insatlling a new nightly, and you are asked for registering mail only before opening it. both nightly and release are installed talkback-enabled, but Talkback didn´t come up with last tests. some data from different crashes (testing this) RPCRT4.DLL .text+0x15bd use of uninitionalized function ptr MAPIPROXY.DLL .text+0x140 *** nested exception *** KERNEL.EXE caused by explorer.exe or NECKO.DLL OLE32.DLL and RPCRT4.DLL 4.71.2900 seems to be from original from installation of Win98SE Don´t think this may happen for a normal customer, if he isn´t using both Netscape and Mozilla, but then he is in other trouble, as both browsers share their profiles, registry.dat and pluginreg.dat
I encountered this problem today (2004/8/23) after I installed Netscape 7.2. But my case is "Windows Explorer" crashed and restarted (I am using WinXP) while Mozilla remain unharmed. I see the "Windows Explorer" crash report related to "RPCRT4.DLL" also but I am not sure about the version.
Firefox is my default browser, Thunderbird is my default mail program. Whatever program I use to send a file using Simple Mapi crashes. (Explorer, Winword, etc...)
Hm, I just set the default mail program to Mozilla and then back to Thunderbird and it is now working. Odd...
