What I'd love to see in bugzilla is a feature to search for recently submitted bug reports. This could be a good way to prevent duplicate bugs. Every time I am about to submit a new bug, I keep thinking "maybe I shouldn't post this, someone has probably beat me to it". Please pull me in the ear if this already exists. But still ponder the thought that it maybe should be made more easily accessible, and simpler.
Yes, there is a way to do it. It's not the most intuitive thing in the world, though. Go to the query page. Look for the text "Where the field(s)". Click on "[Bug creation]" in the list to the right of that text. Type in a recent date in the "dates:" field to the right of the list; leave the "to" field to the right of that saying "Now". Voila, you will get a list of recently submitted bugs that match whatever other criteria you have set on the page.
Yeah, I actually found that out before posting this bug... but still... _I_ know how to do it, but most don't, and won't. A more accessible way of doing this would be beneficiary to the whole project, in my meek opinion.
Um, you said: "Please pull me in the ear if this already exists." Not "if it exists and is obvious" ... At any rate, there is always a tension between making the query page functional and making it simple. For much pointless discussion about this, see bug 11328.
True, so why didn't you pull me in my ear? :) Sorry, I don't want to contribute to pointless discussion... But, putting a simple link on the main page (or on the submit page), pointing to the latest submitted bugs of the day would be nice.
There is now a link on bugzilla to View Bugs Already Reported Today
