graphic emoticons are empty in messages as well as in the Insert / Smiley menu.
This worked correctly in the previous version I used (sorry, I don't remember
which version it was anymore but I could find it if necessary). I chose to
cancel this option in order to at least see the text version of the emoticons

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to graphic representation of smileys if necessary
2. display or edit any message containing a smiley or drop down the insert /
smiley menu


Actual Results:  
Graphic smileys don't appear, there is a space instead

Expected Results:  
there should have been a graphical representation, just as previous versions did

I have at least one case where the smileys don't appear in the main mail client
window (the one where users scroll between mails) although I have switched the
graphical representation off. This is happening for a mail stored in the Drafts
folder.

Please, remove this - buggy ? - extension called multizilla and try again.

I did what you requested (using instructions at
http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.phtml?title=Firefox_:_FAQs_:_Uninstall_Extensions)
then I reloaded Mozilla. Multizilla seems correctly uninstalled. 

I switched graphical display back on. Still no smileys. The characters versions
disappeared but all I got was a blank space instead.

To be sure, I quit completely Mozilla again and reloaded it. Still no smileys.

:-( if I may say so.

I will leave Multizilla uninstalled for a few days in case you have another
suggestion.

Try with a blank new profile and tell us.

-> mozilla.exe -profilemanager or it is mozilla.exe -p ?

Reporter: Which theme are you using?

After smilies became themable (on 2004-03-10 for bug 84950) it requires the
theme you use to actually support the feature - and provide smilies. 

Please change to classic and modern theme and tell if you see the bug there.
If you use a third party theme that actually DOES support smilies, please file
the bug on the author of that theme.

Thanks, the problem is solved. The theme was too old, I downloaded the last
version and the graphical smileys reappeared.

3rd party theme bug, as it was not a mozilla bug, closing this bug as INVALID.
