I tested this with the just released Firefox 0.9 and the nightly build, and the problem is still there. I'm running Linux under Mandrake 10. It's not a problem with the JDK (I'm using Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode)) as the applet works fine in the Konqueror browser that comes with Mandrake.KDE. The applet loads but only renders the first two lines of the live timing screen, when the applet is showing times from F1 practice, or qualifying sessions. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040615 Firefox/0.9

The URL shjuld be changed - the actual URL changes depending on the race etc, it can always be accessed though from the URL I have pasted in - just click on the live timing logo. eg. today its http://www.formula1.com/race/livetiming/722.html

I confirm too. It is not working. it has even closed the browser when I closed the pop-up window... talk-back has not appeared to report the problem. When reopened the browser it look a long time (lot of file zone activity). I've tested this with builds before 2004-05-20 and it was not working. I am currently using Firefox 0.9 and Java 1.4.2_03. However IE is using same Java VM from SUN and is working just right.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 Does not work in firefox 0.9.3 too.

Please can the OS be changed to ALL on this. It would also be nice for someone from the development team to at least acknowledge this bug and accept it. The fact that it has been open for 4 months is somewhat galling. Please note also that there is a degree of time pressure here - there are only 3 races in the F1 season left this year, so you haven't got long to look at the problem. My guess is that, seeing as the applet works fine in other browsers using the same JDK, the problem lies in the Javascript surrounding the applet rather than the applet itself. The Javascript in the page is not IE specific, as it runs fine in Netscape and Konqueror.

No one will be able to properly test this until the first race of the season, as the web site is not broadcasting live timing at the moment. There is a possibility that this bug will be re-opened on 4th March 2005.

There is a > possibility that this bug will be re-opened on 4th March 2005. I checked with this URL now: http://www.formula1.com/race/livetiming/popup/732.html . Looks like the bug still exists. Please verify.

Not a duplicate of 236761. Bug 236761 is Linux only, this is for Windows and Linux. Please re-open, and see comment 4 or my comment on 236761 about the URL to test this bug on, as the URl changes from race to race. The current URL is http://www.formula1.com/race/livetiming/735.html but I re-iterate the fact, it changes from race to race. It is extremely easy to replicate the bug, just follow the live timing links off http://www.formula1.com/

Bug 236761 is not Linux-only. It is was initially reported on Windows and Linux, and its OS field is set to ALL per the duplicates. This bug is clearly a duplicate of bug 236761. Same symptoms on the same URL (the last number is different, but it changes for every race as you noted). So unless the person who *works* on that bug decides they need different bugs for different OSes, I will not reopen this one. Please calm down and do not add unnecessary comments to bug 236761. In particular, please do not add "This is still a problem" (unless it's necessary) or advocacy comments. It goes against bugzilla etiquette (which you should have already read). Do add useful comments, such as information when the URL in question can be tested (can this be tested at any time of the week?) or a testcase page that always demonstrates the bug. (Duplicate bugs are seldom read, I should have migrated your comment 4 to that bug, apologies for not doing that. I'll reopen bug 236761.)
