As filed in bug 244212, this is the details. I'm filing this for Thunderbird.

Some users (especially those who come from Outlook or Outlook Express) are used
to double-clicking on the card icon to select addresses from the address book.
When a user double-clicks on the card, a dialog box should pop up. Ideally, the
dialog box should have the addresses & names and allow users to put addresses in
the to:, cc: and the bcc: box at the same time, but it could take on different
forms including a modified address book window with an "Ok" button.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Here would be the proposed idea for a dialog box to select names:

i disagree. the expected behaviour for double clicking is described in bug #271917.

For double-clicking an item in the address sidebar, as that bug is described,
you are correct. This bug, like bug 181886, is about double-clicking on the
little icon that appears in each addressing field.

See also bug 252665, which proposes re-implementing the described addressing
window (which already exists in the suite) for TB, with a different UI for
getting there.

I disagree with this request, because it interferes with the suggestions in my
bug 284648.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
