User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 StumbleUpon/1.909 Build Identifier: Firefox/0.8 (This DOES not apply to Mac OS X but at least Linux and Windows users has confirmed the problem) On the linked page I have embedded a pdf with the object-tag. The page validates as xhtml transitional 1.0. However, when Firefox 0.8-users visit the page they get an error message: This operation is not allowed and nothing is displayed. I don't know if the problem is in Firefox or the Acrobat plugin. Some more testing is probably required. Are there any alterntive to Adobe's pdf viewing plugin for Windows and/or Linux? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Load the linked page 2. 3. Actual Results: Error message Expected Results: An embedded pdf should be displayed

Confirmed. Get the "This operation is not allowed" window and nothing is displayed, only the title of the page on the tab. - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a2) Gecko/20040525 Firefox/0.8.0+ - Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.1 - Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro 5.00.2195 SP4
I only get a 404 error on this page Reporter: Do you have another url where this occours or maybe you can create a testcase for this bug?
Sorry for the 404. I have fixed a quick and dirty test case at http://www.dsv.su.se/~david-bo/tmp/test.html
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041017 Firefox/1.0 confirming couldn't find a wontfix (FF/BR) for this either so I'm not sure if this should work at all

This is still broken in 1.0.3, and stops a Firefox migration. This is also reproducable in Acrobat 7 Example of affected site : http://www.blueindex.co.uk/research/daily-charts/2005/feb/28/daily-chart-hsba-28-02-2005-15-21.cfm
I too have a similar problem with embedded objects. I have a page with multiple frames (the example above used IFrame). One of the frames is an embedded PDF file. When I print all frames, I get a blank page for the PDF. The other frames print ok. If I open a page just with the pdf (http://myserver/sample.pdf) then printing works fine. So, it seems that the printing code does not invoke print on each frame.

This is happening in Firefox 1.0.4. See http://www.jadepress.co.uk/tests/simple.htm.
Curiously, if you change type="application/pdf" by type="text/html", it work's fine !

Unfortunately Adobe does not make a Adobe Reader 8 plugin that is compatible with Firefox for OS X. A plugin is required for Firefox to display a pdf embeded in the the Firefox. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=333545 You can suggest that Adobe develop a plugin at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

I can't figure out what's going on here. I'm going to assume that "This operation is not allowed" is coming from the plugin. I half suspect this is a DRM bit on the PDF file saying "I do not want to be embedded".
