(I *have* checked for duplicate bug reports, so please excuse me if I did miss a
bug report that matches mine. ;-)
At least on Windows, one can start Thunderbird multiple times. I don't know if
this is good for the consistency of the mailbox :)

Florian, thanks for checking for dupes. I found three ;-)
bug 176411, referring to Seamonkey
bug 105867, referring to Seamonkey and stating that this is a feature
bug 220196, referring to Thunderbird.
