Copy Link Location puts zilch on the clipboard.

Yes - I did a search and know this has been reported way back when, but the
first time I've seen this is in the latest 1.7RC2 release and it's a major
irritant. It's hard for the untrained eye to see in the huge list whether or
not it's been resolved in this version.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click on any link.
2. Select "Copy Link Location"
3. Paste into another application - nothing shows.

Actual Results:
Failure of paste operation.

Expected Results:
Pasted the link.

on reading this bug, I´ve tried to copy & paste the 3 links in your comment,
i.e. comment #1, mailto:Bill, and reply, and paste to this textbox, to no avail.
I had to minimize the navigator, restore, and then the last item copied could be
pasted. I´m seeing this on Win98SE 512 MB RAM, and Win98, 96 MB RAM, for some
months now, and I assume, there is a bug about this.

Reporter, is this reproducible, right after starting Mozilla, or do you see this
only after some time of browser usage?
Is this on links only, or also on normal text?
Do you use quickstart, is your computer always on, or a laptop?
Do you use themes or extensions?

Found maybe related bugs:
Bug 227058 copy paste method disabled from address bar and form input area [focus]

Bug 228646 keyboard focus randomly lost and cannot be regained except by opening
menus with mouse

Right now, it's working again. I'm a bit taken aback. Maybe you're right about
it being after some use. I'll report back on this one.

> Is this on links only, or also on normal text?

As soon as I can reproduce it with links, I'll try normal text too. Please
stand by.

Desktop. Quickstart.

> Do you use themes or extensions?

Nope.

This is still an issue, though I can't see any consistency. I'm using a
download manager (Fresh) and Mozilla won't let my use Copy Link Location to cut
n paste the download URL into the download manager. Tried to do this this
morning (29 May) and the clipboard was empty.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.

I have a similar problem with firefox 1.0.7 on windows 2000 -- any operation that should put text into cliboard may fail (the clipboard is then cleared). This doesn't happen right after startup -- perhaps 5 or 10 minutes into browsing session. Copying with drag'n'drop is not affected.

This may be a focus problem. If you right-click, ist the 'Copy' Entry enabled?
After copying, is the 'Paste' Entry enabled, i.e. not greyed out?
I'm seeing this sometimes after a long session with a lot of tabs. Copying doesn't copy, so Paste isn't enabled, or the stuff copied before is still in the clipboard. To reenable copying I minimize the browser and restore again, after that I can select, copy&paste.

Yes, Copy is enabled, and after copying, Paste is enabled too. But nothing is pasted, so the clipboard must be empty.
bug 295477 is similar to this one
Microsoft Remote Desktop client is part of the problem -- once I close all its windows, I can copy/paste from/to Mozilla just fine.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;840872 ("You may not be able to paste an item in an Office 2003 program after you connect to a Windows Server 2003-based server that is running Terminal Server") might be related, too.
