Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6+ (Windows/20040524) It's good feature to merge message/partial messages. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Using: Thunderbird version 1.0 (20041206) for Windows XP It took me quite awhile to figure out that an email from a friend with photos from our last ski trip were sent by the message/partial mechanism. The attachments to both emails just showed up as "attachment" in Thunderbird, but looking at the source, I saw nothing wrong with the attachments on the first message. After fiddling around for quite some time with the first message, I finally looked at the second one and noticed in the header (UserName changed from original name): Content-Type: message/partial; total=2; id="01C4CE8C.4A640A30@UserName"; number=2 I believe that message/partial is part of RFC1341 [http://rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc1341.txt]. Would be great if Thunderbird could handle this intelligently. I still haven't got those attachments out of Thunderbird! I'll gladly upload both emails if someone wants me to. They are about 2mb total.

Ever confirmed: true
AFAIK Outlook Express and Bat 2.x both produce such split mails if configured to do so and also automatically restore them into single message when all parts are received
Is a DUP of bug 71189 which has existed for some years. Would be nice if it would be fixed, but probably not very easy. (sequencing the parts, what do do if parts are missing, etc)

It would be nice if Thunderbird would be doing at least like TheBat! (partial messages are separated messages until all messages arrive).
