I have several services send me status updates which I filter into their
respective folders.  I just need to refer to them when neededso I'd like to have
mail placedin that folder by a filter to be marked "read" so that read next
message dosen't open the folder.

Perhaps this could be taken care of at the filter level but I don't know how
server-side filters would be able to handle it.

"Duh."

Just found the action to mark read in the mail filter dialog.  How did that get
in there?  ;-)
