I've expereienced this same problem with both Firefox 0.8 & Moz 1.7rc2. It is
not possible to highlight a link & copy the text (as opposed to copying the
hyperklink info, i.e. "link location"). In Netscape 7, the similar option would
be "copy"; as opposed to "copy link location". Also, when mouseing over &
attempting to select a link, I get a circle with a line through it. I'm using
Win 98 SE. This is the only serious weekness I've found in either browser.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. select & Highlight link
2. Right click
3.
Actual Results:
"copy" option not available
Expected Results:
had a cintext menu option of "copy" that would enable the user to copy the text
apeparing over the link.

I believe this was actually done on purpose... See the context menu design
document at

You can copy the text of a link, if you start highlighting the link or part of
it by left-clicking outside the link, and then hovering with the left-clicked
mouse, then right-click, and choose 'Copy Link Location' or 'Copy'.
Maybe this doesn´t work for you if you use themes and extensions, it is working
for me on win98 and win98SE.
If you right-click directly on a non-highlighted link, you don´t get this option.

copied from Firefox start page, highlighted 'Get CD' from the right to the left,
and the image above was also highlighted:

I really need this feature, I hope that decision is changed. I have to open
Netscape 7 at times just to copy text!
You wrote, "if you start highlighting the link or part of

mouse, then right-click,"
Thank you for the tip. It's not ideal, but it does work for me also. I did
mention this in the forum before filing the bug report & got mildly flamed there
rather then getting a helpful answer like the one above.
