Preface: It seems, I cannot prevent JavaScript from hiding the menu bar or the
button toolbar; Preferences only has "hide the status bar"

An application created a new window where all the navigation elements are not
displayed. Another application (that should open a browser window) decided to
use that window instead of opening a new one (Windows DDE, I don't know?). As a
result the window had new contents, but it does not have any navigation or menu bar.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a window without menu bar or navigation bar.
2. Make an application use an existing browser window (SAP R/3 4.6C (SAPGUI
6.20) in my case)


Actual Results:  
The browser window where online help is displayed lacks navigation elements

Expected Results:  
Either open a new default window, or reset the default user interface when a new
page is loaded. In addition all unwanted modifications should be blockable by
preferences

Wrong component and there probably already is a pref for this.  I don't know one
off the top of my head but you might be able to find it with about:config.

found this and others in about:config, set filter for bar
dom.disable_window_open_feature.menubar

Not a DOM bug. We have these prefs.  What the UI people want to expose is a UI
issue (and already filed, I believe).

I would say this is a dupe of Bug 196327. See also Bug 142712 and Bug 135944 for
others.
