Details

The first time you doubleclick the software update area, the dialog appears and you have to click Finish. The second time you open it, it disappears after about a second. After that, it just flashes up and vanishes again.
Flags: blocking0.9?
Tested with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040602 Firefox/0.8.0+ (Steffen).
This may be a separate bug or it might somehow be related, but when the update wizard is launched by double-clicking the status bar it shows the "Firefox encountered problems" button (clicking on it lists all extensions installed), but when the wizard is launched from the EM it doesn't encounter any problems (either way Ethereal shows the update file is being read).
I see this as well after installing an extension which supports updating (TBE). Before I installed that, it was the other way round: When called from the status bar, the wizward said it was unable to find updates. When called from the extension/theme mgr, it said it encountered problems.
Now that's what I call efficient. Two bugs fixed with a one-line patch! I haven't read the code, but the fix for bug 245341 also fixes this one. If I remove the pref again, this bug reappers. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 245341 ***
