you can search a folder locally or on the imap server. it is much faster
locally, but the srch tool will let you search on a field that is not available
locally. example srch body for "xxx". result is null when srching locally
because the body is still on the imap server. tool should know when local srch
will not work and inform user.

I think mscott is doing the search backend.

good idea...but I doubt we get to it before beta2 since we haven't implemented
search yet.

Hello.
Yesterday i posted the same problem.
On our old mailserver (cyrus imap server) everything works. On this server i
tested thunderbird, outlook 2003, outlook express and mulberry as mail clients.

On the kerio mailserver i´ve also tested these four mail clients and
thunderbird was the only one which has problems.

I also talked to the developer and support team of kerio. They told me that the
kerio mailserver supports this search function and that this should be a
thunderbird problem. Because all other mail clients are working fine.

Can anybody help me to solve this problem!?

Regrads,
Dennis Miller
Issue 307496 was marked as duplicate of this bug. I'm not sure if this is
correct, as this issue says "Make IMAP search smarter" and the duplicate says
"IMAP body search does not work".

You can find additional informations and IMAP logs on that issue here:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1721900#1721900

Will this issue stay as P5 enhancement for the future?

The question is -> Is this a bug in the Kerio Mailserver as it does not
understand the search commands from Thunderbird or is it a bug in Thunderbird as
it should send a different search command.
Kerio may not have been happy with our body search protocol, but it works fine on other servers, and conforms to the RFC. Marking wfm.
